The First Annual Miss Saluda Riverfest was held August 15, 2009 at the Pleasant Grove Community Center, Leesvillle, SC in conjunction with the Little Saluda River Festival. The Little River Festival is held the Saturday before Labor Day each year.
The pageant was directed by Paula Wells of PJ's Pageant Productions and was sponsored by Gown-a-Roma, Sharonkay Ford; Connections by Paula, Paula Watkins and Mike Goff Photography, Mike and Meri Goff.
TLC Television station attended the afternoon pageant and filmed footage for a documentary about local pageant coach, Cy Franks, "King of the Crown". Newly crowned Mrs. United States, Tammy Johns-Brown was on hand to crown the winners.
The winners ages 10 and up were invited to attend the Saluda Young Farmer's Tractor Pull that evening. All winners were presented at the Little River Festival.
Miss Saluda Riverfest, Tyler Smith was presented a $250 cash prize, the first runner up Miss, Amanda Vaughn Seebly received $150 and second runner up Miss, Ariel Elizabeth Fox received $100. A donation from the pageant was also made to Saluda First Steps on behalf of the Little River Festival Committee.
The First Annual Miss Saluda pageant will be held in August 7, 2010. It will be held tenatively in conjunction with the Saluda Young Farmers Organization, the Saluda Tractor Pull. This special event will take place in August 2010 in Saluda, SC. The title of Miss Saluda will be one of the most coveted in Saluda County. The pageant will be held in the historical Saluda Theater, Saluda, SC.
